ISN iNET-CKD Webinar: CKD-associated anemia: time to question our assumptions

  • 4:00 PM CEST

Anemia is a common complication of CKD and an important determinant of symptoms that impact quality of life. Despite evidence that hemoglobin varies substantially in the general population, current treatment guidelines recommend a single therapeutic range for hemoglobin in all patients with anemia and CKD. In this webinar we will review the published evidence that informed previous guidelines, present new evidence of the extent of international variation in hemoglobin from the ISN iNET-CKD cohorts and consider the case for re-evaluating previous assumptions about the nature and treatment of anemia associated with CKD.

Learning objectives:

  • Review published literature on the treatment of anemia associated with CKD
  • Understand international variation in the severity of and risk factors for anemia associated with CKD
  • Discuss remaining uncertainties regarding CKD associated anemia and priorities for future research
